REGIONAL LABOR FORCE

A strong work ethic thrives in Morgan County. We offer a productive, stable and skilled work force at a low cost. Because the county has been overlooked for development, 52% of its wage earners travel beyond its borders to work. Naturally, they would rather work close to home.

WAGES

Morgan County wage rates provide a competitive advantage. The average wage in Morgan County in 2000 was just 75% of the national average and 83% of the average for West Virginia. The cost of living is comparatively modest. The average cost of a home in 2000 in Morgan County was $89,200.

SKILLS TRAINING

Morgan County's excellent public education system provides high school graduates trained in the basic use of computers. The James Rumsey Vocational Technical Center just east of Morgan County has an average enrollment of 1,900 students receiving a dozen post-secondary career-oriented programs. The center provides 40 adult education programs, including training in the field of high technology. Nearby Blue Ridge Community and Technical College will assist with your training needs.

West Virginia will not only help in the recruitment and training of new employees but will reimburse employers for up to half the wages of workers in on-the-job training programs.
